What Is Upcycling?
First of all what is upcycling? Upcycling is basically the trendy new way of saying reusing your waste. We create on average about 4.5 pounds of waste every single day. Most of that waste sits in a landfill to rot. It is not good for our planet or us to be constantly throwing away garbage. Upcycling has become trendy in the past few years due to the green movement. It is a great way to encourage people to reuse and recycle instead of throwing away.
People upcycling all sorts of junk items. You can recycle clothing into pillows, recycle bowls into lampshades, make a bed out of books. There are so many creative ideas out there of what to do with your junk. These are 5 of our favorite ideas we have come across.

When gutted books make excellent hidden storage. You can also make your own tablet holder with an old book. You can take the pages out of an old book and make a super cute wreath or use it for some other sort of DIY project.
There are people who have made actual furniture from stacks of books like chair arms and beds. If you are really into books or have a library or office in your home you can tear out pages, stain them or distress them and put them in a frame. This will give you some unique art work for your walls.
