Bond With Your Newborn

It is common for most dads to think that they will have to wait for the baby to be older before developing a special relationship with their tiny human, but the good news is that you can start the moment the baby is born! Bonding with your baby is essential for you and your bub. It is no surprise that your wife has a special bond with your newborn as she carried them for nine months. It’s now time for you to realize that your child needs your love and care just as much as they need their mother’s. Here are 10 simple yet lovely ways to bond with your baby.

Develop a skin-skin contact

A newborn baby wants you as much as they want your partner. They require your constant love and care. As a mother gets in skin-to-skin contact while breastfeeding and cuddles her baby, you may hold them in the same position while bottle feeding, allowing your bub to gaze up at you. This way, you develop skin-skin contact, soothing and cuddling your baby just like your partner does while breastfeeding.

It’s important to let your baby know that you can give them what they need, and your partner is not your bub’s only caregiver. Consider soothing your baby on your own rather than handing them over to your partner as soon as they start to cry. You can calm your crying baby by holding them close while gently rocking them. This way, you develop a close bond with your newborn.

Spend the nights with your baby

It’s not just mom who has to do the night shifts; you may take the chance to bond with your baby simultaneously. You may take advantage of the stillness of the night and show your baby how much you care and love them.

Doing so will not only help you develop a strong bond with your bub, but also help your wife get a good night’s sleep.

Take Responsibilities

Isn’t it a blis to come home to see your little one’s adorable face after a tiring day at work? Further, watching them babble and cuddle could be the best therapy. However, don’t just stop there, as daddy roles do not have to be restricted to these. You may shop for baby accessories or help your partner with feeding, cleaning, and changing diapers as well. It might not sound like the best way to bond, but both your baby and your wife need your help, and you’ll have diaper stories to share with your baby as they grow up.

Unveil the little man in you

Unveil the little man in you with silly faces and funky sounds as babies love these. Doing so may lead to smiley faces and even big laughter on your baby. Tickling, mimicking different animals, and playing around are all great ways to bond with your little one.

Set time aside

Babies aren’t going to stay babies for long, so take a break from your work and enjoy your little one’s babyhood. Do anything that excites or brings a smile to your baby. You may even sing or read to your baby as they may find it soothing. As your baby hears your voice more often, the more comfort they will find in it. You may hold your baby close while you sing or read to elevate the bonding experience.

Baby Carriers

Baby carriers are one of the best ways to have your baby close to you. Usually, the mom wears her baby while doing errands around the house. However, you may take the turn as well! Doing so only for a few minutes can warm your child and foster bonding between you.

Bottomline

There is nothing as in the best way to bonding with your baby. Hence, the most important thing to focus on is your little one and what you can do to show them how much you care. At first, it may not come naturally to you; but your love and desire to bond will grow with time. You need to understand that bonding is a personal and deliberate experience that takes time.
